Held in the first time in the Republic of Rwanda, a country famous for its achievements on zero tolerance against corruption and strong stance on corporate governance, the conference focused on the importance of building up best practice investigations capacity in an organisation and how to achieve this, alongside highlights of successful initiatives taking place across Africa.
Hot topics for attendees included how to carry out effective investigations, building stronger governance and properly addressing risk management, plus hands-on role plays of crisis situations developed their practical skills. Furthermore, this year’s event saw the topic of Cyber Crime rise higher up on the list of priorities with all attendees, particularly those in Internal Audit roles, expressing a keen interest to learn more about how technology can be used to commit and combat fraud. As the continent continues to develop, the need to build capacity in this area will only increase.
